Case: Transformation program – architectural steer
Challenge
Operating in over 10 countries in Europe, the client is one of the fastest growing retailers in the world. They embarked on a large transformation program, driving simplification, sustainability and scalability. Their existing mode working both in the business and on IT side was characterised by siloed thinking and an operational focus. They realised that they needed solid oversight and architectural steer of the program to ensure meeting their (future) needs and take informed decisions informed with an end to end perspective. Next to that, the leadership felt they needed (and had the courage to ask for) strong feedback and risk mitigation on the strategy of the program in relation to their own acting as well as the acting of partners.
Execution
Our team delivered a practical and solid setup for the architectural governance (design authority) including scope, responsibilities, mandates and ways of working. We subsequently guided the client to run this within the program. To the senior management we provided strong guidance and expertise in the area of design decision making and overall content and solutioning control. This also included challenging them on tactical/strategical level to stay on track in reaching the goals, mitigating risks, and getting most value out of the partners involved.
Feedback
with the design authority and the work of Conscyo’s team we have added control to the program and increased the quality and effectiveness of decision making and design. We will continue with Conscyo over the next stages of the program as their contributions are crucial in meeting the ambitions of the program for the long-term success of the organisation.
